Are Saudis to quit negotiating with Russia?
‘The Saudi Arabia representatives decided to ask for a break during negotiations on purchasing military supplies’ – informed Nikolai Dimidiuk, a Director of Special Affairs Department in Rosoboroneksport. According to Dimidiuk, in fact an agreement on particular clauses of the contract has already been concluded. The Russians expected it should have been initialed shortly after, but the Saudis decided to ask for a break, without giving any explanation of such move.
Contract, that is to be completed, comprises purchasing Mi-17, Mi-35, and Mi-26 helicopters, BMP-3 armoured transporters, T-90S tanks, and anti-aircraft systems Pancyr-S1. The talks are being held since 2007.
